Shiba Inu Diary – Sephy hates taking baths in the bathtub. He does not like confined spaces, especially when it is also wet and strange. Ultimately, it just makes more sense to give Shiba Sephy his bath in the backyard. We also made it into a fun chasing game and now Sephy loves bath time.

Shiba Diary – Nail Clipping
Shiba Inu Diary – Sephy’s first experience with nail cutting. It did not go very well because we cut into the quick of the nail and Shiba Sephy started bleeding. We have found that with a Shiba, it is easier to groom nails using a nail grinder rather than a nail clipper. A nail grinder allows us to slowly file down the nail so there is very little chance of hitting the quick.

My attempts at alpha rolls only made my Shiba Inu’s behavior worse, caused him to lose trust in me, and made him resistant to all handling and restraint.
