Shiba Diary – Visit to the SPCA

Shiba Inu Diary – Sephy visits the SPCA and gets to play with Zen who is a very handsome Chow Chow. Poor Zen was a bit shy and I think a bit overwhelmed by Sephy’s crazy Shiba play style. Ultimately though, both dogs had some fun play sessions so it was a great visit for everyone.

Shiba Diary – Today, Sephy meets a professional dog trainer for private lessons. This dog trainer is very calm, unafraid, and knows exactly what to do when Shiba Sephy shows aggression. Dog training requires calm energy, good timing, consistency, and proper execution of the techniques.

Shiba Inu Diary – Sephy’s first experience and opinion of the alpha-roll technique. Alpha rolls are very risky, causes a lot of stress, and may cause a dog to bite. My attempts at alpha rolls only made my Shiba Inu’s behavior worse, caused him to lose trust in me, and made him resistant to all handling and restraint.

Shiba Inu Diary – Sephy’s exciting first day at puppy class. There were some fun puppies around that Sephy really enjoyed roughhousing with, but best of all there was another Shiba Inu pup! In addition to play, Shiba Sephy also learned to have play-breaks and follow some play rules so that he does not lose control, as puppies so often do.
