For the 3D art, I am currently using Carrara 8. I was using Poser before that, but I like Carrara a lot more.

Then I use PhotoShop to do compositing and other 2D effects.

I am not trained in doing art or design, but with the graphics software available today, you can generate some really nice looking stuff without having much technical skills
